Wantee is made by Azamat Bekbolat. This policy says what the app collects and why, in plain words.
What we collect
Account. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive a user ID, and an email address if you share one (Apple's Hide My Email works). We use it to keep your wall in sync between devices and to let you delete your account.
Your wants. The name, price, category, source, dates, your ratings and your decisions for each want are stored in our database (Google Firebase, Firestore) under your account so they follow you to a new phone.
Your quiz answers and budget. Stored with your profile to personalize the app.
Where you heard about Wantee. If you answer this optional onboarding question, the answer is stored with your profile and shared with Mixpanel and RevenueCat so we can see which channels bring new members. Skip it and nothing is stored.
Help & feedback. Feedback you send and app/device details are stored in Firebase and forwarded privately to our team through Telegram. Replies appear in the app. Message text is not sent to Mixpanel.
Purchases. Handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
Apple Ads measurement. We send Apple's AdServices attribution token to RevenueCat to check whether an App Store ad led to your download. If Apple attributes the download to an ad, RevenueCat associates the campaign, ad group or keyword information Apple provides with your subscription customer record, so we can understand which ads lead to trials and subscriptions. This does not use your device's advertising identifier (IDFA).
Ad measurement (AppsFlyer). When we advertise Wantee, for example on Instagram, AppsFlyer, our measurement provider, tells us which ad led to your download. AppsFlyer receives your device's vendor identifier, IP address, device and app version, your account ID, whether you finished onboarding and signed up, and, from RevenueCat, whether you started a trial, subscribed or renewed and for how much. It passes these results to the ad network that showed the ad, such as Meta, so our ads can be measured and improved. Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is included only if you allow tracking when Wantee asks. If you don't, measurement relies on Apple's privacy-preserving attribution (SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit) and aggregated data. You can change your answer any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Switching off Share usage analytics in You stops ad measurement too.
The board. Posts you make on the board are visible to every signed-in member: the text, the kind, an attached want's name, price and sticker, and, unless you post anonymously, your first name and shopper type. Anonymous posts hide those but stay tied to your account, so you can delete them and reports can be acted on. Likes, reports and blocks are stored with your account. Deleting your account deletes your posts.
What stays on your phone
Photos and screenshots. The sticker cutout runs on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Each sticker is then saved to your account's private folder in Google Firebase Storage so it follows you to a new phone; only you can read that folder. When you add a want from a photo or a link, a small copy of the picture or the page address is sent to our server so the name, price and category can be filled in, then discarded. A shared wall or a board post shows the sticker to others.
Notifications. Optional, scheduled locally on your phone for pulse checks. No push server.
What we do not do
No ads inside Wantee and no selling of your data. Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) is used only if you allow tracking when Wantee asks, and only to measure our own ads (see Ad measurement).
No selling or sharing of your data with third parties beyond the service providers needed to run the app: Apple for sign-in, purchases and App Store ad attribution, Google Firebase for authentication and storage, Google Gemini to read the name and price from a link or picture you add, RevenueCat for subscription status and ad measurement, Mixpanel for product analytics, and AppsFlyer to measure our ads, which shares the results with the ad network that showed the ad.
Product analytics are limited to how the app is used (which screens and features, purchase events) tied to your account ID, so we can see what to fix. Mixpanel receives no advertising identifiers, and there is no fingerprinting.
Sharing your wall
Off by default. If you switch it on, a public page shows your first name, your cooling wants with their stickers, prices and heat, and nothing else. Switch it off in the You tab and the page is removed.
Deleting your data
Open the You tab, then Delete account. This removes your wall, your jar, your stickers and your account from our database, and your stickers from your phone. You can also email admin@dotsproject.io and we will delete it for you.
Children
Wantee is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
